500 Unreachable Islands
2015-2016
Dreaming is a human activity, but if machines could dream, what would the images generated by their "unconscious" look like? A series of 500 photographs depicting people, places, flora and fauna of many islands scattered around the world will be the database of collective experiences used as the starting point for the production of an audiovisual artwork created through generative algorithms. The viewer is immersed in a story told through images of hypothetical, impossible and therefore unattainable islands generated with painterly qualities by software. Their synthetic nature obliges the viewer to complete, with his own imaginative activity, the image itself, following the "dream-like" activity of the machine.
